Don’t take our word for it! Here are some of things people have said about our Cookery Classes…

Just spent a fantastic morning cooking a 3 course meal with Nick Morris at the Station House Cookery School. He was utterly brilliant - calm, kind and passionate about good food and the local community. I learnt so much and came away feeling really uplifted. This place is good for the soul! The mushroom arancini we made. Delicious...

The class room and the students kitchens are all well equipped. ITVs Queen of Spice had been brought in by Chef Nick Morris(owner). Parveen explained how to cook truly tasty simple Indian food. Even I impressed myself with the curries I had made. The cafe next door serves fresh organic locally sourced food. Good food and service. Thank you all for making us all welcome.

Great morning spent making delicious pasta. Nick was a great teacher. He explained the whole process very well and made it great fun. The school is well set out and the cafe next door is lovely too. We will definitely be back!

Nick is passionate and knowledgeable about food and all aspects of cooking. The courses are informal with the information being passed on in a relaxed easy going manner. You need have no fear of your personal cooking ability, everything is well explained.
There are useful tips being imparted all the time, most of which cannot be found in a cookery book
The courses are highly recommended. Oh, and the coffee is superb too!

Having decided to incorporate a cookery school experience into a short break, we
had a tremendous Thai experience with Nick and very much enjoyed our staycation in Kirkcudbright. The other alternative was Italy but we were not disappointed that we stayed closer to home and enjoyed great local food and hospitality. Cafe next door served great baking too!

My sister and I recently took an Indian cookery course with Nick. It was a great experience, interesting, informative and tasty! Nick taught us the finer points of Indian cooking - explained, among other things, flavour profile (I will now flash that term in front of my less informed friends!). Since getting back home, I raided the spice counter at our local market and now have a kitchen well-stocked with all the requisit spices and am raring to go, having invited vegetarian friends to be my guinea pigs! I’ll let you know if they survive Nick!
We had a great time, and I’ll definitely be back for another course.

I’ve just come back from a cookery demonstration at the Station House. It was excellent.
Nick, the owner/chef/teacher, is passionate about food, local provenance and also supporting local producers.
His knowledge and passion come across in spades, the dishes he cooked were all delicious and I have left inspired to cook them and to come back for more.
I love to cook and there is always something more to learn.
The Station House is definitely a place to come and learn

Just spent an excellent afternoon (demo) and following morning (class) with Nick at the Station House. Excellent facilities in this fantastically renovated, old station in Kirkcudbright. I completed the ‘Food of the Ukraine’ sessions with a 3 hour demo and tasting on Sunday afternoon and the subsequent 3 hour class on Monday morning. Nick was an excellent host and tutor. I am a keen amateur cook, but had never taken a class before, but this was spot on. It was an ideal birthday gift (for my 50th - thanks to my lovely lady).
I shall be back.....

Fabulous day started with a coffee and watching Nick demonstrate Italian dishes including making fresh pasta, bechamel sauce and lasange. Great experience - learned lots in a relaxed environment with very knowlegeable and friendly tuition from a chef who knows how to transform ingredients into delicious meals.

What a great way for learning new skills and all right on my own doorstep.
This was a birthday present that certainly didn’t disappoint and something I have been wanting to do for a long time.
The day started off with a quick getting to know you-which was then followed with a lovely coffee, after which, Nick then got straight onto demonstrating the Thai dishes we were going to make in the afternoon.
The tastes of Thai cooking were amazingly fresh with sweet/sour & salty tastes.. Absolutely delicious, and the tastes lingered on in your mouth for ages afterwards as well.
Heading back for a bread course later and can’t wait to learn some new skills.
Thank you Nick and of course your team for a great day...

A fun and interesting day spent learning about and making bread. Discovered where I’ve been going wrong all these years! Nick imparts a lot of knowledge and useful tips in a relaxed environment. Absolute beginners need not feel daunted.
Now inspired to continue bread making at home

Thanks Nick for a great morning at your Thai course. Very informative and very well explained to us. Hope to book for vegetarian course in April. Lots of luck with your cookery school Pauline

Nick is friendly and informative. He’s a natural teacher and I learnt a lot of general cooking tips alongside hie easy to follow recipes for Thai food. Who knew you could peel ginger with a teaspoon, or mash garlic cloves with a knife so they’re less likely to burn? I worked so hard and proudly completed all the dishes, each distinct and delicious. I’ve saved the Green Thai Curry for my husband to taste, as the gift voucher was a birthday present form him and the family. I’ve asked for another. Now hmmm, what course will I choose next?
