It's Burger time at Station House and we want you and your kids to come join us for a fun filled afternoon. Jenny Gardner specialises in creating bespoke Upholstery, Soft Furnishings, Lamps, and Noticeboards. She has been in the business for 24 years and runs classes passing on these essential life skills.
In this class you can learn how to make a 20cm drum lampshade and use it to turn an empty bottle of your favourite tipple into a fabulous lamp.
We will use a push in lamp fitting so no drilling of glass involved. Please bring a piece of fabric at least 70cmx25cm and an empty bottle. There will be small led fairy lights available to purchase for inside your bottle and extra lamp kits will be available. Lampshade making is great fun and an excellent skill to learn.

A true ‘Field to Fork’ experience.
Start your day on a ‘Red Deer Safari’ at Gledpark, a UNESCO certified producer of park venison.
Discover how native deer in their home range are managed with welfare as a core motivation in the breeding of these iconic animals. Learn their life cycle, witness natural behaviours and freedoms and discover why most are destined to go live to other locations in the UK as breeding stock. Having got up close and personal you will understand the science behind the growing fashion driving Venison consumption. Cameras are a must.
Then move on to meeting Dave Thompson, Galloway Countryman and Ferreter. You get to meet his Ferrets and Lurcher dogs and see how they are keeping the ancient tradition of harvesting wild rabbits alive. This is so important to enable us to source truly sustainable meat.
After your tour, you will have lunch at Station House before being treated to a demonstration of venison and rabbit cookery from the Cookery School's owner Nick Morris. He will demonstrate how to prepare and cook different cuts and explain why they need different techniques. Of course, you get to enjoy what Nick prepares in the comfort of the demonstration room.
A full day which will build your confidence in the ethicacy of our traditional game and your ability to do it justice in your own kitchen.

Julia Child's magnificent 'Mastering the Art of French Cooking' has long been an inspiration for Nick. In this Full Day Cookery Class he chooses some of his favourite recipes which exemplify why French Cookery is so influential. On the Menu are a classic French Chicken Liver Pate, French Onion Soup, Beef Bourguignon and an Apple Tarte Tatin!
The day begins with Nick demonstrating all the dishes of the day which you will get to taste. Then after a break to enjoy the beautiful sights of Kirkcudbright you return to the kitchens to cook the dishes yourselves at your own pace with Nick on hand to guide and tutor.
You will be invited to sit down and enjoy your efforts in our modern and comfortable demonstration room. There is plenty of food to take away with you so feel free to bring your own containers with you.

An opportunity for a very special hill to plate journey.
You will start your day at Gledpark, a UNESCO certified producer of park venison. Discover how native deer in their home range are managed with welfare as a core motivation in the breeding of these iconic animals. Learn their life cycle, witness natural behaviours and freedoms and discover why most are destined to go live to other locations in the UK as breeding stock. Having got up close and personal you will understand the science behind the growing fashion driving Venison consumption. Cameras are a must.
After your tour, you will have lunch at the Award Winning Station House Cafe. Post lunch you will be treated to a demonstration of venison cookery from the Cookery School's owner Nick Morris. He will demonstrate how to prepare and cook different cuts and explain why they need different techniques.
The final element of the day sees you with your own dedicated workstation in our purpose built student kitchens - where you will prepare a delicious venison dish yourself.
A full day which will build your confidence in the ethicacy of our traditional game and your ability to do it justice in your own kitchen.

Start your day on a ‘Red Deer Safari’ at Gledpark, a UNESCO certified producer of park venison.

After your tour, you will have lunch at Station House before being treated to a demonstration of venison and rabbit cookery from the Cookery School's owner Nick Morris. Jenny Gardner specialises in creating bespoke Upholstery, Soft Furnishings, Lamps, and Noticeboards. She has been in the business for 24 years and runs classes passing on these essential life skills.
In this class you can learn how to make a 20cm drum lampshade and use it to turn an empty bottle of your favourite tipple into a fabulous lamp.
We will use a push in lamp fitting so no drilling of glass involved. Please bring a piece of fabric at least 70cmx25cm and an empty bottle. There will be small led fairy lights available to purchase for inside your bottle and extra lamp kits will be available. Lampshade making is great fun and an excellent skill to learn.

In this class you can learn how to make a 30 or 40 cm drum lampshade for either ceiling pendant or large table or floor lamp. Learn how to make a large drum rolled edge shade.
Please bring fabric at least 30cm shade 1m x 30 cm 40cm shade 130cm x 35cm Lampshade making is great fun and a useful skill to have come and join us in lovely surroundings with good company.
